Press release
Luis Adelantado Valencia is pleased to invite you to the opening of An Imaginary Party II that will take place on December 18th at Boiler Room.
An Imaginary Party II brings together more than forty artists who have exhibited at the gallery along its thirty years of life. An intimate journey through the eyes of Olga Adelantado—the gallery’s director—who has selected with a panoramic view, drawings, photos, monotypes, original works and publications, from a series of artists that have been associated to the gallery during all these years.
The emotional and configuration axis of the exhibitions will be a conceptual drawing from artist James Lee Byars, which will occupy one of the walls in this specific space conceived for the exhibition with structures designed by Sebastian Alós, and will be distributed across the room, leaving the central space empty.
Amongst the works displayed at the exhibition, there are pieces by historical artists from the gallery—such as Darío Villalba and Luis Gordillo—who left their print on the guest book. These are authentic artist books which will be displayed for the first time, as well as unknown drawings from Eva Loots, author of one of the first exhibitions at the gallery, and special issues that during all these years have been generated at the gallery, like those belonging to Juan Uslé, Ferrán García Sevilla and Secundino Hernandez. All this without overlooking the importance that many young artists have at the gallery, many of them linked to our CALL project, like: Fermín Jimenez Landa, Ivan Argote, Marco Papa, and others. For the artists attending this imaginary party, Luis Adelantado is, and has been, a real platform from where to lay roots for their careers, and define themselves. A meaningful crossing point, a meeting point of opinions and perceptions on art. Because a gallery is always something more than just a gallery.
