CALL XVIII. Group show
Press release
Luis Adelantado Valencia is pleased to invite you to the upcoming opening of the XVIII CALL (International Call For Young Artists) to be held on July 7. In line with other years, we have received hundreds of artistic proposals, of which 17 have been selected by Olga Adelantado, the director of our gallery.
As a new feature in this edition, one of the artists selected for the CALL will be given an award consisting in an individual exhibition to be hosted in our Boiler Room in July 2017.
Most of the selected artists—11 of them—are Spanish. Specifically, in this year’s selection, four of them are native of the Valencian Community. Among the others selected, we have two Argentinians, one artist from the USA, one from Luxembourg, another from Holland and one from Serbia.
The selected artists’ work ranges from painting—in the case of Alejandro Botubol, Martín Piolatti and Carlos Correcher—and collage—Sejma Ferré and Manel Ros—to photography—Iñaki Domingo and Jesus Eloy—. Sculpture and installation are also represented—Daniel Jordan, Sali Muller, María León, Alejandro Ginés, Rosa Rubio, Florencia Caiazza, Hilde Onis and Elia Núñez—, as well as video art—Ana Esteve Reig and Sali Muller—.
Regarding the selection process, and as Olga says, “It is never easy to choose between so many different projects. However, there is a gradual professionalisation of artists at ever younger ages, which makes me proud, eventually favouring the art system in the medium term”.
