Luis Adelantado Valencia is pleased to present the work Doble ficción as the first solo show by Ana Esteve Reig at the Boiler Room and who joins the group of artists represented by the gallery.
The audiovisual work features several action scenes performed by women, corresponding to film shots whose sequences were performed by men to double the female characters.
The work intends to denounce “the normalization of the use of men to double female characters in risk scenes, being very few times that a specialist woman could double female characters.”
Together with Valkiria Stunts, the first and only female team of risk specialists in Spain, the artist selected scenes from the films in which men had been
used despite the fact that the character was a woman. Copying the fight choreographies shot by shot and accompanied by sound effects and a soundtrack, the result is an exquisite production, achieving an act of vindication through the visibility of a profession from which women had been excluded until very recently.
