Boiler Room . Palpentes. Rubén M. Riera
Press release
Luis Adelantado is pleased to present Palpentes, a pictoric installation by the artist Rubén M. Riera which deals with the changes that human relationships have undergone following the appearance of touchscreens and their application to different mobile devices.
His work brings together the rheological prints in an era of media exposure, where the notion of transparency means that everything has to be irremediably exposed. Glass is no longer an obstacle to access the world’s information, but in fact works as the new spirituality of knowledge and technological production.
Interaction between glass and viscous material is scenarised, as a purposeful exhibition, a displacement where what is produced is substituted by the producing gesture, opening up a regimen of visibility whose recording makes all sprawl and expansion processes stop, therefore making them available to the transparency of the glass.
Subjected as we are to this new regimen where production activity is not complete if it is not visible, we can ask ourselves if that forced exteriority inherent to the capitalism of post Fordism is not responsible for us being subjected to a mere circular of information, doomed to the screen whose logical and affectionate interactions end up as futile greasy prints on the revealing space of an expositive vision.
