Boiler Room. Colour Me. Yvonne Robert
Press release
Luis Adelantado is pleased to present Yvonne Robert’s first exhibition at our gallery entitled Colour Me, which will be hosted in our Boiler Room.
In Colour Me, Yvonne Robert presents her most recent works, an abstract acrylic series on canvas where the relationship between form and colour—expressionism and maximum reduction—predominates. Her work allows access to intuitive painting without the need to contextualise the work in a specific place, thus making it unique. Her pictorial language is an expressive liberation that tries to move away from conventional forms. With it, the artist seeks to establish a relationship with the viewer in which—through the pictorial forms of her works—she can build an imaginary of her own.
Yvonne Robert came to painting experimentally, developing a language close to abstraction, always very influenced by the colours of fashion and social networks. The changing nature of her works demonstrates that for her painting is not something static but that the gestural takes on a fundamental weight in her creative development. Thus, she generates a set of personal images—beginning with her preliminary drawings—, transforming as she constructs her compositions. For Yvonne “the challenge is to produce a reduced image without it seeming common”.
